Product Description

Let this charming and whimsical 'Wall Frog' brighten up your child's room or nursery or any room in your house! These unique and handcrafted metal sculptures are made from recycled steel drums, also used to make instruments for the Caribbean Steel Drum Bands. Exotic and colorful, these whimsical critters really capture the 'calypso' spirit of the Caribbean. You'll love the hand painted detail and artistry that really bring these frogs to 'life'. Invite the tropics into your home with these delightful and colorful metal 'Wall Frogs'.

In order to create these frogs, the steel drums are burned to remove their coating and then sliced open and flattened. Designs are sketched onto them, before the sculptors cut around the contour of the design with a hammer and chisel, and add depth by embossing areas with the rounded ends of their hammers. The metal sculpture is treated with non-toxic rust preventing primer, and passed on to the painters. Once the painters are proud of and satisfied with their part of the creative process, the frogs are varnished and sent on their way.

The 'Wall Frogs' bring along special energy from Haiti. If you are lucky you may catch them hopping around at night while everyone else is sleeping. You'll feel good knowing your purchase is eco-friendly, made from recycled steel drums, and supports local artisans in Haiti.
